Local Rides
(For Dunblane, Bridge of Allan & Stirling)
I have decided to list the below routes as I enjoy riding them and would like to ensure that other people can share this enjoyment as well.
I hope to add pictures of the routes listed below and also hope to add some more routes soon.
If you would like to add a ride, suggest a change to its description, if you have any photos of the rides or for any other reason just e-mail me here.
Cambusbarron woods and quarry
OS Landranger 57, 768917
Ranges from challenging single-track to open paths through
the woods, with plenty of options.
If in doubt, climb until you reach the burnt-out tree on
Gilies Hill for an excellant view and a break.
This can be easily linked to North Third, by descending into
the quarry and continuing south.
North Third
OS Landranger 57, 761888
As featured in MBUK.
Not for the timid as your wheels are just inches from a 200ft
vertical drop.
Pick up one of the paths at 770906 or follow the farm-track to 764899.
General opinion seems to be that the cliffs are best ridden to the
north.
This route offers some excellant views.
Dumyat
OS Landranger 57, 836977
The hill can be tackled from the carpark at 813908.
Best route is the high one.
It’s possible to ride almost all the
way but you can opt to push all of the way if you prefer.
Descending through Craigs Wood is not encouraged as there are
“No Biking” signs.
The University (Stirling) Woods are also popular riding areas and can be
used to access Dumyat.
