Neal Broke the 1000 score mark in the F@H project!
After about 4 years of number crunching the rc5-64 secret key challenge, the project that initially brought Team Linux UK into existence has been completed, with the help of over 330,000 volunteers donating spare CPU time to the cause. There is now an announcement from distibuted.net and RSA security has this release to announce the completion and that the $10,000 prize has been awarded to distributed.net who will then pass on a portion of that prize to the team and the member who had the fortune to find the winning key. According to distibuted.net the winning computer was a Pentium 3 450Mhz running Windows 2000 in Tokyo, Japan. The key was originally discovered on the 14th of July and was eventually submitted on the 12th of August. The secret message read "some things are better left unread". There were some of us at Team Linux UK who were still running distributed.net, and i for one look forward to rc5-72! --update by neal 26-09-02 17:47GMT
Whenever any of us are online you will, hopefully, find us on irc. Although recently nobody goes on irc, but I (mint) will try and be more active. Anyway, if you want to talk to us, connect to irc.openprojects.net and then join #teamlinuxuk.
